چکیده

We describe AEGIS20—a radio survey of the Extended Groth Strip (EGS) conducted with the Very Large Array (VLA) at 1.4 GHz. The resulting catalog contains 1123 emitters and is sensitive to ultraluminous (10 L,) starbursts to , well matched to the redshift range of the DEEP2 spectroscopic survey in this region. We use stacking z ≤ 1.3 techniques to explore the microjansky-level emission from a variety of galaxy populations selected via conventional criteria—Lyman break galaxies (LBGs), distant red galaxies (DRGs), UV-selected galaxies, and extremely red objects (EROs)—determining their properties as a function of color, magnitude, and redshift and their extinction-free contributions to the history of star formation. We confirm the familiar pattern that the star formation rate (SFR) density, , increases by at least a factor of ∼5 from z p 0 to 1, although we note highly discrepant UVand radio-based r SFR estimates. Our radio-based SFRs become more difficult to interpret at where correcting for contamination z 1 1 by radio-loud active galactic nuclei (AGNs) comes at the price of rejecting luminous starbursts. While stacking radio images is a useful technique, accurate radio-based SFRs for galaxies require precise redshifts and extraordinarily z k 1 high fidelity radio data to identify and remove accretion-related emission. The Deep Optical Imaging of the Extended Groth Strip

We present ugR optical images taken with the MMT/Megacam and the Subaru/Suprime of the Extended Groth Strip survey. The total survey covers an area of about ∼ 1 degree, including four sub-fields and is optimized for the study of galaxies at z ∼ 3. Our methods for photometric calibration in AB magnitudes, the limiting magnitude and the galaxy number count are described. A sample of 1642 photomet...

Mid - infrared Identification of 6 cm Radio Source Counterparts in the Extended Groth Strip

A new 6 cm survey of almost 0.6 deg to a limit of 0.55 mJy/beam (10σ) finds 37 isolated radio sources and 7 radio source pairs (not necessarily physical companions). IRAC counterparts are identified for at least 92% of the radio sources within the area of deep IRAC coverage, which includes 31 isolated sources and 6 pairs. This contrasts with an identification rate of <74% to R < 23.95 in visibl...

The gravitational lens CFRS 14 . 1311 = HST 14176 + 5226

Ratnatunga et al. (1995) have recently proposed that an object, HST 14176+5226, in the " Groth-Westphal " HST survey strip is an " Einstein cross " grav-itational lens. By chance, this object has been previously observed in the Canada-France Redshift Survey. The candidate lens, catalogued as CFRS14.1311, is an elliptical galaxy at z = 0.81. In addition, the spectrum shows a strong, spatially-ex...

Far-infrared Characterization of an Ultra-luminous Starburst Associated with a Massively-accreting Black Hole at Z =1.15

As part of the All Wavelength Extended Groth Strip International Survey (AEGIS), we describe the panchromatic characterization of an X-ray luminous active galactic nucleus (AGN) in a merging galaxy at z=1.15. This object is detected at infrared (8μm, 24μm, 70μm, 160μm), submillimeter (850μm) and radio wavelengths, from which we derive a bolometric luminosity Lbol ∼ 9×10 12 L⊙. We find that the ...

The Deep2 Galaxy Redshift Survey: Aegis Observations of a Dual Agn at Z = 0.7

We present evidence for a dual Active Galactic Nucleus (AGN) within an early-type galaxy at z = 0.709 in the Extended Groth Strip. The galaxy lies on the red sequence, with absolute magnitude MB = −21.0 (AB, with h = 0.7) and rest-frame color U − B = 1.38. Its optical spectrum shows strong, double-peaked [O III] emission lines and weak Hβ emission, with Seyfert-like line ratios. The two narrow ...
